(Semi-Dwarf) ‘You’ll love ‘Lodi’ for its sweet-tart, smooth-skinned, green apple with crisp white flesh. Introduced in 1924 and developed in New York, this early summer Apple has been tested and proven to be a heavy producer that has a concentrated early ripening period so you can harvest these juicy fruits all at once, when they are light green/yelllow and about 3″ in diameter (mid to late July in Zone 5). What a vigorous tree, yielding an average of 10 bushels per tree and what a multi-purpose fruit! Inside, the white flesh is tender, soft and juicy. Because it is a tender Apple with pure white flesh, it makes a wonderful white applesauce. ‘Lodi’ Apples cook down very quickly, preserving more of the flavor and making them excellent for sauce, pies or cider. Of course, you could just enjoy them fresh right off the tree, too! Plant with other early blooming Apples such as ‘McIntosh’, ‘Spartan’, ‘Liberty’, ‘Yellow Delicious’, ‘Jonathon’ or ‘Cortland’ for the best fruit production and cross pollination
