Daniel Deronda Clematis

Daniel Deronda Clematis

Perennial

Named for a title character in a George Elliot Novel, ‘Daniel Deronda’ is a splended Clematis with wide 7-8″ flowers and a distinct twist! Depending on the season, you may see fully double, semi-double, or single flowers! In spring, an established plant will show a mixture of all three bloom types with singles predominating in the fall when it gives a repeat show with flowers that are incredibly showy but smaller than those in spring. No matter when and what form the flower takes, it’s still breathtaking with brilliant deep bluish-purple color with plum highlights accented with golden anthers in the bloom center. The flowers become less intensely colored as they age but still stand out against deep green foliage. ‘Daniel Deronda’ produces the most attractive seed heads of any Clematis, will thrive in full sun or partial shade and loves mulch at its base to cool its roots. Use a fence or strong trellis so this plant can show off its best! Class 2.
