Straight from the Blueberry areas of northern Australia, this striking variety from down under is a Blueberry to be reckoned with and one that may stretch your fresh Blueberry season even longer. ‘Brigitta’ is a robust grower and vigorous bloomer that produces masses of large, light blue, crisp, firm textured fruit starting in late July. While the quantity of fruit it produces is noteworthy, ‘Brigitta’ will be etched as a favorite in your mind due to its dreamy sweet yet slightly tart taste and the fact that it will hold its quality in the refrigerator for a month or more after picking and still taste as crisp and sweet as if you just picked them while retaining its firm texture. Like all Blueberries, ‘Brigitta’ is easy to grow and provides far more than fruit with superb orange to red fall foliage color and even a bronzy new flush that makes it stand out in the early spring.
