Widely considered to be the hardiest of the many Ornamental Pears on the market, ‘Autumn Blaze doesn’t sacrifice anything in the beauty department as a result of its tenacious hardiness. Late April sees this broadly oval shaped selection still without foliage but absolutely awash in big white flowers that will seemingly cover every square inch of the plant. Deep green, lustrous foliage puts on a cooling summer show while fall sees this same foliage alight in shades of reds, oranges and purples and making a breathtaking fall statement. ‘Autumn Blaze’, like all pears, is easy to grow and tolerant of poor soils, road salt and a myriad of man made conditions that trip up other flowering trees.
