This outstanding nativar will bring its sunny disposition to the garden every late May with gorgeous golden-yellow flower spikes that cover this beefy plant well into June. Even when not in bloom, ‘American Goldfinch’ is a welcome presence in the landscape with its blue-green foliage and its dense, space-saving form. It also thrives in poor soil and drought conditions.

Lush blue-green foliage forms a  bushy, rounded clump that adds color and texture to any sunny garden. In late May, 10″ tall spikes of rich mahogany red flowers with yellow keels are borne above the foliage and put on a spectacular bicolor show.
