Enduring elegance for small spaces! You deserve a spring landscape that takes your breath away – and Wabi-Sabi® viburnum is just the accent you needed. This unique version of the popular doublefile viburnum grows low and wide, making it perfect for the front of beds, planting atop walls, or lining walkways. Every branch bears large, pure white lacecap flowers, giving the whole plant a strong horizontal presence that adds elegant structure to your plantings. Like all viburnums, it is shade tolerant and deer resistant.
Not your run-of-the-mill doublefile viburnum! In our trials, it has beaten out ‘Summer Snowflake’ with improved, stronger blooming. You can see for yourself with its long bloom time in spring and repeat blooming in the summer. Its elegant, lacy blooms are held on a strongly horizontal habit, which brings a unique architectural feature to the landscape. Foliage is dark green, glossy, and has the hallmark deep veining of the species, which altogether looks lovely in the landscape and performs well as a filler for cut flower arrangements. Fall color is a brilliant purplish-burgundy.

One of the best Viburnums available, this plant is known by few people but cherished by birds everywhere. One look at its dense, rounded form tells you that it is a great plant to provide cover and nesting area to a considerable group of our favorite birds. What you might not know is that birds are enthralled by the dark blue to black berries produced in the late summer as a result of big, fragrant, white colored April-May flower heads. Even better, ‘Winterthur’ tolerates partial shade well while growing famously in a wide range of soils from dry to moist. ‘Winterthur’ is perfect alone or in groups to create a bird friendly, American Beauties hedge and it will take your breath away in the fall with a foliage show of crimson-purple color that must be seen to be appreciated.
