Deep green, fine textured foliage forms a dense rounded mound that comes alive in mid-summer with a profusion of pea-like, violet-purple flowers that continue into early fall. This beautiful fountain-like plant features a waterfall of spectacular pinkish-purple pea-like blooms held in strings approaching 6 long starting in early August and continuing into September. Blue-green, pea-like, trifoliate foliage lines up along arching stems adding to its flowing, spreading look in the landscape. A ground covering marvel, ‘Platt’s Black’ will amaze you with its unique foliage color! Deeply cut, fine textured fern-like foliage forms a soft mat that takes on a deep purple to near black color throughout the growing season. This eye-stopping foliage color is enhanced by sun exposure and this plant is more than happy to thrive in the hot sun while tolerating drier conditions.

Deep rose bracts atop the darker purple flower heads are slightly ruffled and tend to rebloom. The silvery-green foliage holds up well in humid conditions. Compact form looks great in a container or mixed border. Drought tolerant. Ideal for borders, edging and attracting butterflies. Good cut or dried flower.
