This native blueberry produces sweet, dark blue berries from mid-to-late summer and has an open, airy form befitting a shrub border or native garden environment. Dainty white flowers cover the bush in May, and its dark green leaves put on a magnificent autumn show as they transform to a reddish-bronze color, making this a great selection for both taste and aesthetic purposes.

Blueberry Glaze® is unlike any other blueberry variety. With its small stature and incredibly glossy, dark green leaves, Bushel and Berry™ is reminiscent of a boxwood and can easily be sheared as such. The white with pink spring flowers beautifully contrast the deep foliage color. Small, little dark (almost black) berries present in little bundles mid-summer. The small berries have intense flavor much like the flavor of wild blueberries. With their deep flesh color, these berries pack a healthful punch with their antioxidant-rich qualities.

There are about 15 different species of lilacs found in nature, and Syringa hyacinthiflora is the queen of them all when it comes to fragrance. And that’s what makes Scentara® Double Blue the most fragrant Proven Winners lilac yet! The cool purple blooms take on a blue tone in the spring sunshine, each one full of petals for a delicate seashell-like effect. This very heavy bloomer exhibits excellent disease resistant and a handsome, appealing shape that will look right at home in your landscape.

Stoke’s Asters have always possessed a desireable bloom, great color and a long bloom time, but many varieties have just not measured up in the garden for performance and long term surviv_ability. ‘Peachie’s Pick’ changes all of that, giving you a dense, compact, reliable plant that thrives in the garden while providing you with an unbroken summer of color. Found by a Mississippi gardener in her home garden, ‘Peachie’s Pick’ has been judged the best garden performing Stokesia available and you’ll see the difference as flower spikes rise above the foliage in late June bearing countless violet-blue, double flowers into August. It’s a great show from this plant that thrives in full sun or partial shade and well-drained soil. Plant it in groups for a stunning summer carpet of color.

Don’t let this plant’s small package fool you into thinking its performance is small. Dense and compact, ‘Mel’s Blue’ packs a bigger plant’s punch with masses of fat buds that open in July to reveal huge 2 to 3″ diameter blue flowers that cover the plant into late summer. This color machine is perfect for massing in the garden for a wave of summer color or for using in a mixed container that will be sure to grab some attention.

Cool blue foliage is the perfect contrast to this hardy plant’s crisp white blooms. Hints of burgundy in the new growth foreshadow the rich red foliage color it develops in fall. This neat, mounded plant is an excellent addition to the landscaper’s palette.

This is one of those plants that is so unobtrusive until it comes into bloom and then is so outstanding that you are always taken pleasantly by surprise. ‘Lucerne’ is so easy to grow, tolerating most any well-drained soil and full sun and sporting clean, deep green, narrow grass-like or iris-like foliage that forms a clean, upright landscape tuft that is pleasing but unremarkable. Loads of buds begin to form in early May, emerging from the foliage, and the plant transforming show is ready to begin. Buds open in mid-May with an explosion of deep blue, yellow centered, 3?4″ six lobed flowers that are stunning against the deep green backdrop. These flowers continue to open well into July providing a great nectar source for native bees and small butterflies while its foliage provides cover for small mammals. Plant it in groups in the foreground of the garden a show that is as unexpected as it is long.

Be the first one in your area to carry this exciting, underused, handsome vine. The first thing you’ll notice is ‘Moonlight’s’ remarkable foliage, pewter blue in color, dissected by a network of green and pink venation. In June you’ll rave about its big, white, Hydrangea-like blooms while you’ll rave about its vigorous demeanor year round. See pages 14-15 for more information about the White Flower Farm program.

Bluish-green, upright foliage gives a sizzling display of oranges, reds, yellows and purplish-browns in the autumn. ‘Standing Ovation’ thrives in poor, dry soils and its seed heads are prized by native songbirds. It provides winter landscape interest and cover for birds and other native critters.
