When I see this flower the only thing that comes to mind is lion mane! Although you won’t find a blue Lion in New England you will find a fabulous 4-7″ fully double, rich blue-purple clematis and blooms in May and June then repeats the show in September! A perfect complement to summer blooming perennials. Its compact form makes Diamantina™ a good double clematis for containers. Introduced by Raymond Evison at the 2010 Chelsey Flower Show and impressed visitors there with its unique coloration and fully double flowers, but its ability to free flower even thru the summer and each flower can last up to 4 weeks long! Diamantina™ is part of the Regals® collection, a collection of extremely doubled clematis breed by Raymond Evison. Class 2.

Named for a title character in a George Elliot Novel, ‘Daniel Deronda’ is a splended Clematis with wide 7-8″ flowers and a distinct twist! Depending on the season, you may see fully double, semi-double, or single flowers! In spring, an established plant will show a mixture of all three bloom types with singles predominating in the fall when it gives a repeat show with flowers that are incredibly showy but smaller than those in spring. No matter when and what form the flower takes, it’s still breathtaking with brilliant deep bluish-purple color with plum highlights accented with golden anthers in the bloom center. The flowers become less intensely colored as they age but still stand out against deep green foliage. ‘Daniel Deronda’ produces the most attractive seed heads of any Clematis, will thrive in full sun or partial shade and loves mulch at its base to cool its roots. Use a fence or strong trellis so this plant can show off its best! Class 2.

Cherokee™  boasts a rare combination of  extremely free flowering habit and a two-toned flower made up of a dusky pink petal and a deep pink bar.  Cherokee™ is synomnous with Ooh La La™  and once you see the mass of 3″ flowers it can produce you will understand why – it took the Chelsea Flower Show by storm in 2009 where it was featured by Clematis breeder, Raymond Evison’s exhibit. Cherokee™ is part of the Boulevard® collection, perfect scale for smaller gardens or patio containers. Maxing out at 4′ it is perfect to wrap around a mailbox or interplanted with a shrub rose! Class 2 or 3.

Let’s face it, Clematis can be a tough plant to get established in the landscape at times but ‘Blue Bird’ is guaranteed to be one of the easiest and one of the most rewarding. Canadian bred for toughness, it is an aggressive plant that is easy to be successful with and produces a flower show in April and May, before many other Clematis, making it stand out even more. In fact, even the flowers are uniquely different with 2″ diameter size, semi-double form, deep purple-blue color and a drooping almost pendulous nature that is breathtaking. This is the Clematis of choice if you are struggling to get this genus into your landscape and one to cherish even if you have plenty of others due to its unique flower and early floriferousness.

Large pink petals with a darker pink bar and contrasting yellow anthers. A beautiful climbing vine for patio or container plantings. A very free-flowering plant ideal for a shady position in the garden, for growing in a container on the deck garden or patio. Also ideal for brightening up an outdoor dining area.

A superb plant for the small garden as it only grows to 3-4 ft. (90-120cm). Easy to grow and cultivate.

Vicki Boulevard is a chic Clematis that stands out in shades of vivid pink and magenta. Its compact size means it doesn’t need a big trellis or arbor, and it fits nicely in patio containers. Vicki will keep surprising you with new flowers throughout summer. Once the flowering wanes, cut it back and it’ll grow new for another show.

A lovely free-flowering cultivar from Raymond Evison. It’s rich mauvey-blue star-shaped blooms have pinky anthers. Free flowering and superb in a patio container.

‘Olympia’ is a compact, deciduous, perennial climber with pinnate leaves divided into ovate or broadly lance-shaped, mid- to dark green leaflets and large, single, purple to violet-blue flowers from early summer into autumn.

A strong-growing plant that produces strong flower stems, making it ideal for cutting for the home where it can last 10 days. Corrinne Vine is great for a shady part of the garden where it needs deep-colored flowers or foliage to enhance its pale flowers. They are strong plants for growing in a container, for the deck garden, patio, or outdoor dining areas, where it will brighten up such an area.

A real bloomin’ breakthrough in Trumpet Vines, this plant’s flower power will make you forget about all the other varieties on the market with its massive July-September display of orange-red tubular flowers. Your local hummingbirds and butterflies will fight you for a view of the blooms on this plant that blooms earlier and more heavily than most other varieties. Fast growing, this grafted form will not be as wide ranging as the vining form but will still be happy to submit to some pruning to keep it looking neat and colorful.
