Get out your sunglasses for this plant because its foliage is, in a word, vibrant! Needle-like, fleshy foliage forms a tight spreading mound that will ignite the landscape with its incredible, brilliant, golden yellow color. If that wasn’t enough, more yellow color in the form of profuse, tiny yellow flowers makes an appearance in late June and July to be followed by a fall color display that infuses orange shades into the golden yellow leaves. This is a plant that keeps on giving whether in the ground or in a container and is very much at home in a full sun, sandy, well-drained location.

Upright growing stems boast blue-green leaves, forming a bushy mound that fills in borders or mass plantings perfectly. Clusters of baby pink buds burst into large, deep pink flowers in late summer, attracting butterflies and making this an excellent selection for color. As winter comes, this perennial charmer continues to intrigue with brown seed heads.

This selection is unique among Stonecrops since it is one of the few upright Sedums that is worth growing for the foliage alone. This dwarf rock garden-sized sedum makes a compact 8″ tall x 1′ wide clump of tiny, very dissected, light green fleshy foliage. In late summer, Sedum ‘Thundercloud’ is topped with a cloud of white stars hovering just above the foliage. Extremely hardy and easy to grow, ‘Thundercloud’ tolerates dry, well-drained soil and performs magnificently.
