Flamingo Willow

Flamingo Willow

Shrub

Expect landscape fireworks when this plant releases its spectacular deep pink foliage when flushing in spring! ‘Flamingo’ is a sport of the wildly popular ‘Hakaro Nishiki’, is just as easy to grow and is a marked improvement with more color at flush than its famous relative and the ability to retain more of its color as leaves mature. In fact, you can keep this plant, and your garden in the pink throughout the season just by judiciously pruning it to stimulate the release of another outstanding flush in a kaleidoscope of pink and white shades. ‘Falmingo’ loves full sun and, even though the plant displays loads of great variegation, leaf scorch is not a problem as both branches and foliage are much stronger then those of ‘Hakaro Nishiki’. Start pruning after the last frost to keep Flamingo bushy and at the desired height. Like the bird Flamingo, this plant loves water and will tolerate wet feet and repeated pruning to keep it colorful and its growth restricted. Give it some room to grow then stand back and watch the show! 2007 Hardy New American Garden plant!!
